Bargain Bin Breakdown – Evil Genius

by korerat on Jul.23, 2009, under Bargain Bin

In the Bargain Bin this week, Evil Genius, developed by Elixir Studios and published by Sierra Entertainment.  Evil Genius was released on my 21st birthday, making it just shy of five years old.  Not an incredibly old game, but again, game years are more like dog years.  Evil Genius is a take on the 60′s spy thrillers, mainly James Bond flicks.  You have an evil genius(you), a secret lair inside a mountain, a henchman or two, and a who boat load of traps and gizmo’s.  The whole point of the game is, as one would think, to be evil.

My first step at becoming an evil genius was browsing a few shady websites.  A few hours later, I had Evil Genius installed and ready to play.  The exact details of how are not important.  What is important is that from the very first splash screen, I knew that this game had stood the test of time.

40 years ago today

by korerat on Jul.20, 2009, under Rants

Forty years ago today, two men preformed a world first.  Two men, Neil Armstrong and Ed “Buzz” Aldrin, were the first people to land on the moon.  On this day, forty years later, I would like to show my respect to  these two men and the hundred others who helped to get them there.  They brought a dream alive, and gave hope to millions of Americans when they needed it most.  It was a major feat in human engineering and even more so in human will.  We set a goal and we achieved it.

Launch

Landing

Return

And experience the whole trip at:

Small changes and such…

by korerat on Jul.16, 2009, under News

You may have noticed a few changes happened.  One being that I actually updated and wrote a new Bargain Bin Breakdown.  The other was the removal of the welcome page.  Now it works more like most sites, with the latest posts listed at the start.  I just randomly up and decied to go back to this format.

Again I posted a new Bargain Bin, have one being written currently, and am starting to play the next(cross your fingers that it will install).  So look for more post coming and such.  I also haven’t done much with my video projects lately.  I made some upgrades to my computer, but haven’t had the chance to test out the new power with editing.  Mostly this is because I’ve been getting sucked into games a lot more.

Bargain Bin Breakdown – American McGee’s Alice

by korerat on Jul.15, 2009, under Bargain Bin

Alice 2009-07-15 23-06-23-06I’ll first state that this may be slightly heavily one-sided.  I first bought American McGee’s Alice back in Oct. of 2000, when it was released.  I was very excited about the concept of revisiting Wonder Land in a more depressed and macabre vision.  I enjoy the story, and am looking forward to the movie(that was originally due out in 2001, but is supposedly filming this week).
